Informed by the MMA’s strategic goals and with thoughtful preparation, we launched a $25 million capital campaign to build a new Discovery Center & Aquarium in 2024. This project will increase our reach into Nantucket and off-island communities, educating visitors about the importance of protecting Nantucket Sound and our natural environment.

The MMA is uniquely positioned to continue educating and empowering the next generation of environmental stewards. Our Discovery Center & Aquarium will become the island’s most visible, public-facing center for discovery and science focused on STEAM education for Nantucket’s students and visitors alike.

The Center will include a Marine Science Lab to support research and learning. The property will also address future staff housing needs, helping to establish the MMA as a self-contained campus.
