MMA Camp Alumni Network (MMA CAN)

The goal of the MMA Camp Alumni Network is to create a MMA camp alumni database of past campers who are currently over the age of 18 years old. This initiative brings together MMA camp alumni, encouraging them to share their experiences, memories, and photos while reconnecting with friends from their time at camp.


Camp alumni can join the newly created Maria Mitchell Association Camp Alumni Network Facebook group to share memories with others. Additionally, a reunion kick off event is planned to be held in the summer of 2026. 

 

This project is being conducted in collaboration with students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). A group of WPI students are staying on Nantucket for 8 weeks in the fall of 2025 to assemble a Camp Alumni Network and to assess the overall influence the MMA camps have had on campers (i.e. future careers, educational choices, and personal life). Their report will be shared with the MMA to sustain the parts of their camp which have positively impacted camp Alumni the most. 


Two Main Project Objectives: 


  • Create Camp Alumni Database to celebrate past campers while establishing connections among alumni. 
  • Assess how participation in MMA's camps has influenced camp alumni
