Katherine studied biochemistry and economics at William & Mary. During college, she advised synthetic biology research, wrote international sustainable development competition cases, and researched coastal natural capital markets through the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS).


Katherine joined the Maria Mitchell Association as a 2023 Aquarium Intern and now directs the Scallop Program. She enjoys working on applied environmental projects with social and scientific impact. For her, Nantucket is unique in its inclusive, curious, and engaged community and spectacular biodiversity – it is immensely rewarding to teach and learn here.
