William has been interested in the natural world ever since he and his older brothers would venture through the woods together as children. He took every opportunity he could to explore the wooded areas and wildlife of Kansas.  He immediately fell in love with Nantucket's natural beauty through the four seasons, and enjoys exploring its public spaces, and participating in island activities.

William grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, where he played sports and grew his passion in the environmental sciences. He graduated from Washburn University with degrees in Anthropology and Sociology, while being a collegiate athlete. In college, he played football for four years, while also working with a grassroot organization, called Central Topeka Grocery Oasis, which aims to eliminate food deserts in the urban areas of Topeka, Kansas. William continues to hone his Anthropological expertise through teaching others about the dynamics of human perception and interaction with the natural world.

In 2022, William joined the Maria Mitchell Association as an Environmental Education intern. He was promoted to Assistant Director for the Summer of 2023 and is now creating and facilitating the Maria Mitchell After School Programs and the Summer Discovery Camp. William is currently the Camp & Youth Engagement Director at the Maria Mitchell Association.
