Cara Perry has been with the Maria Mitchell Association since 2023, starting as an Environmental Education Intern and now serving as the Discovery Camp Manager. Upon arriving in Nantucket for a field course in 2022, Cara fell in love with the nature and unique ecosystems of the island.

Cara has had a love for the outdoors since she was young. She enjoyed playing in the woods and vernal pools of South Eastern Massachusetts and spending summers on the beaches, ponds, and creeks of Cape Cod. Throughout her life, her love of the environment grew and she discovered a passion for outdoor education.

Cara graduated from the University of Maine Farmington with a B.S. in Environmental Science as well as a minored in Outdoor Recreation and Climate Change Solutions.  In addition to being a captain of her Track and Field team, Cara enjoyed her time in Maine spending it hiking, skiing and taking as many field courses as she could. Cara uses her expertise of the natural world to educate children through Maria Mitchell’s Discovery Camp Programs. Her mission is to ignite a passion for the natural world in others. She believes that in doing so, they will grow up to be responsible stewards of the nature they love.
