Wee Explorers Ages 5-6, Full Week, Half-day Programs (Mon - Fri, 8:50am - 1:00pm) - Enrollment begins Feb 1, 2019 at 7 am

The medical release pick up form is now filled out as part of the registration process. DO NOT USE THE FORM ON THE REQUIRED MEDICAL FORMS PAGE OF THIS WEBSITE. That form is for volunteers and private program participants only.  Before you register make sure you have:

  • Phone number for your child’s doctor
  • Health insurance details
  • Emergency contacts and phone numbers
  • Names and contact info for people on your child’s pick up list
  • Medication details if applicable

You will be notified of the required physical and immunization records during the registration process and will receive these details in the receipt/confirmation you receive upon registering.  If you are still unsure, please visit the required medical forms page.

WE WILL BE OPENING MORE SPACES BASED ON WHICH SESSIONS HAVE THE GREATEST DEMAND.  TO GET ON A WAIT LIST, PLEASE COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION FOR A FULL CLASS.  YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY AT THIS TIME AND WOULD NOT BE AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED IF A SPACE OPENS.  IF A SPACE OPENS, WE CALL YOU TO VERIFY YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED  BEFORE YOU ARE REGISTERED.  AT THAT TIME YOU WOULD MAKE THE PAYMENT.

Island Explorers (This session is only offered just to Nantucket Year-Round Residents) Register

Join us for a special week for year-round residents of Nantucket. You will explore coastal and upland habitats in search of critters, play games, listen to stories, make crafts, and so much more!

Coastal Critters & Comets Register

How many different kinds of animals live in the ocean and on the beach? Join us and travel to different coastal habitats in search of crabs, fish, birds, and other beach inhabitants.  During the week, we will also launch into a galaxy of fun as we explore comets, stars, planets and more in honor of Maria Mitchell.  This session will include games, hands-on experiences with animals, cosmic art projects, and free exploration time. Each session will have a unique theme that will be determined by the summer instructors.

Animal Signs & Senses Register

Get your nature detective skills going as we explore beaches, forests, fields, and more in search of animals and any evidence they’ve left behind.  Use your own senses to discover clues in the landscape and how animals use their senses to survive.  This session will include games, hands-on lessons with scientific equipment, free exploration time, and more.  Each session will have a unique theme that will be determined by the summer instructors.

Aware in the Wild Register

Be aware in the wild, it’s best for survival. Travel around Nantucket’s inland areas in search of birds, bugs, trees, and leaves. Learn about the weird, wacky, and wonderful things that live all around us, what they need to survive, and how we can survive off the land.  We will visit different habitats each day to learn about the plants and animals that live there, make tasty treats from wild edibles, play nature inspired games, and more. Each session will have a unique theme that will be determined by the summer instructors.

Note: Not recommended for children prone to food allergies.

Animals, Authors & Art Register

This session is perfect for creative and crafty kids.  Each day we will explore a new habitat, learn about an animal of the day through exploration and story time, then make an art project based on the day’s lessons. Each session will have different stories and animals featured.

Investigation Station (NEW!) Register

Energy and matter is all the chatter during this week of free exploration and hands-on physical science fun. Guided by questions of the day, we will discover the answers exploring many of the earth’s surfaces including mudflats, sandy beaches, and forest floors.  Also, prepare to get dirty during scientific experiments with slime, solar powered putty, and more.

Upcycling Adventures Register

Turn trash to treasure while going on adventures! We’ll explore a variety of the island’s diverse habitats and learn about the important resources they provide for all living things.  Through games and art projects, we will discover ways to protect these habitats; reduce the resources we use; and turn old clothes, household materials, and litter into useful products instead of throwing them in the trash.

Growing Up Wild Register

Explore Nantucket’s beaches, wetlands, forests, and grasslands in search of fascinating plants and animals in each habitat.  Through games, free observation time, and hands-on activities, you will understand how different animals take care of their young, how plants grow and spread across the island, and the challenges both plants and animals face along the way.

Waves and Weather Wise Register

You’ll have a swell time uncovering the mysteries of marine life and how different species survive in an ever-changing world of waves and weather.  Travel to north shore beaches and upland habitats, use scientific equipment to record daily weather conditions, observe animal behaviors in their natural environment, and learn about the world of waves around us through music, experiments, and more.  Each session will have a unique theme that will be determined by the summer instructors.

Sensory Safari (NEW!) Register

This week will be filled with ears, eyes, nose, mouth and hands-on experiences as we explore the diverse habitats of Nantucket.  We will search for plants and animals, play games, make sensory crafts, and test our senses along way.  Learn how strong each of your senses can be when you can only depend on one at a time. Each day will also include a treat that represents one of the tastes we can detect.

Note: Not recommended for children prone to food allergies.
