Molly Hess Mosscrop
Molly was born and raised in Michigan, where she spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors at her family’s rustic cabin in the north woods. Her father, a wildlife biologist and avid birder, instilled in her a love of nature and discovery that has carried through her life.
Drawn to both culture and the natural world, Molly studied Anthropology and Archaeology at Michigan State University, earning her Bachelor of Science in 1996. She went on to work as an environmental and outdoor educator, assistant archaeology field instructor, and archaeology field surveyor for the state. Following graduation, she spent years working seasonally on Nantucket while also traveling the world—pursuing her love of exploration.
In 2001, Molly made Nantucket her year-round home, where she and her husband raised their three children. An artist at heart, she has built her own graphic design business, held managerial roles, and taught in the public schools. Today, she is excited to share her creativity and experience with the Maria Mitchell Association and to support a nonprofit that continues to spark her curiosity and deep appreciation for the natural world.
