Nantucket Science Festival
3rd Annual Nantucket Science Festival Do Not Register
Maria Mitchell believed that the best way to learn was “by doing” and that is why the Maria Mitchell Association and our partner, the Nantucket Community School, are pleased to host the 3rd Annual Nantucket’s Science Festival. The event will take place on Saturday, March 18th at the Middle School Cafeteria from 10-2 pm and is free to the public. Light snacks and drinks are also provided. Last year over 375 people attended the event!
Explore the solar system, race magnetic cars, build circuits using solar power, learn how bats fly, design and build box city, make sensory bottles, and so much more. So bring your family and friends for this wonderful winter event.

Explore and Play - the Nature Way Register
Come explore and play with MMA! Each day, as we venture out to new locations, campers will have fun playing habitat games before they are given the opportunity for unstructured free time in the outdoors. We will bring magnifying lenses, collection containers, field guides, and our imagination as we explore the island. Once back at the museum, we will make themed animal and habitat art projects. Appropriate for children ages 6-11 years.

Early-Bird Bird Walks Register
Join the MMA’s Field Ornithologist, Ginger Andrews, on a boutique birding experience. Birds are an important part of Nantucket’s ecosystem and the island is known as an excellent birding spot. You will head out to some of the best birding areas on the island. Transportation is provided from 4 Vestal St. This program is meant for adults but, children ages 8 and up are welcome to register with an adult guardian.

Owl Prowl Register
Join the MMA’s Field Ornithologist, Ginger Andrews, on an exciting night-birding experience – the Owl Prowl. After visiting our demonstration Barn Owl nest box, you will visit sites known for owls, play recordings of their calls and wait for a response or sighting. Transportation is provided from 4 Vestal St. This program is meant for adults but children 8 and up are welcome to register with an adult guardian. This program will be cancelled and refunded in the case of rain.
Special Program *Snowy Owl Quest*
Join Ginger Andrews, on an exciting quest for snowy owls. You will visit sites known for snowy owls along the beach. Four wheel drive transportation is provided from 4 Vestal St courtesy of Young’s Bike Shop. This program is meant for adults but children 8 and up are welcome to register with an adult guardian.
